Mesothelioma (or, more precisely, malignant mesothelioma) is a rare form of cancer that develops from the stem cells turn in the mesothelium, a protective lining that covers many of the internal organs of the body. It is usually caused by exposure to asbestos.
The most common site of anatomical to develop mesothelioma is the pleura (outer lining of the lungs and chest wall procedure), but can also arise in the peritoneum (the lining of the cavity, abdominal) and pericardium in (sac that surrounds the heart), or the tunica vaginalis (scrotum that surrounds).

She has worked most of the people who develop mesothelioma in jobs where they inhaled asbestos , or have been exposed to asbestos dust and fiber in other ways. It was also noted that washing clothes for the family member who worked with asbestos exposure increases the risk for developing mesothelioma. Unlike lung cancer , there seems to be no association between mesothelioma and smoking tobacco , but smoking greatly increases the risk of other asbestos -induced cancer. Some people who have been exposed to asbestos have collected damages for asbestos-related disease , including mesothelioma. Compensation via asbestos funds or class action lawsuits is an important issue in the practice of law relating to mesothelioma (see asbestos and the law ) .Signs and symptoms of mesothelioma include shortness of breath due to pleural effusion ( fluid between the lung and the chest wall ) or pain in the chest wall , and signs such as constitutional unexplained weight loss . Been diagnosed with suspected chest X-ray and CT scan , but must be confirmed patients , with either serous effusion cytology or biopsy with ( removing a sample of the suspicious tissue ) and microscopic examination . Can be used thoracoscopy ( inserting a tube with a camera in the chest ) to obtain biopsy material , and allows the introduction of substances such as talc to obliterate the pleural space ( a procedure called pleurodesis ) , and to prevent further accumulation of fluid and pressure on the lung . Although chemotherapy with radiation therapy , surgery, or in some cases , the disease is also of serious complications . Find tests for the early detection of mesothelioma is ongoing.
